ABOUT SOBIT UNIVERSITY

The historical commitment to empower the community through education goes back as early as in 1924, when Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji launched the first educational institute named “Hindu Anglo Nagrik Inter College” now known as Hindu Rashtriya Inter College, at Gangoh. This humble and noble initiative was the result of the inspiration and commitment of Babu Kedarnath Ji.

As a part of this journey to ignite the minds, a renowned agriculturist and social worker from Gangoh, district Saharanpur, our inspirer, Babu Vijendra Kumar Ji envisioned a society to cater the needs of the youth of the area and empower all sections of the community of our nation through education. This dream of Babu Ji was formalized by Dr. Shobhit Kumar and Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra voluntarily and with the spirit of social service to the community along with a team of eminent professionals, technocrats, educationists, and social workers by establishing NICE Society in 1989.

To fulfill the vision of Babu Vijendra Kumar ji, to eradicate poverty and meaningfully contribute towards the social upliftment, economic growth, employment generation, empowerment & overall development of youth on sustainable basis, NICE Society, established a number of institutions.

Shobhit University aims to create a conducive, enabling academic climate to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and to develop educational means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world.

Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology, Meerut has been granted Deemed-to-be University status by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education vide its Notification No. F-9-37/2004-U.3(A) dated November 8, 2006 under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956.

Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, Deemed-to-be University status is granted by the Central Government to those educational institutions of repute, which fulfill the prescribed standards and comply with various requirements laid down by the UGC.

Shobhit University is a fully government recognized University with the right to confer degrees as the per section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS

  1. An aesthetic look, both from inside and outside, worthy of a quality educational set up.
  2. A minimum of 2,500-3,000 sq. ft. covered area or more depending upon the program(s) being conducted and sufficient open space (owned or long lease) is essential for a Pride centre.
  3. At least 10 computers of Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM, 250 Hard Disk configurations with facility for laser printers, broadband internet, Web cam, Wi-Fi Network and Scanning.
  4. Not less than two Lecture Rooms, accommodating 30 candidates each, provide an area of 10 sq. ft. per student.
  5. Essential infrastructure like Reception Desk, Labs, Workshops, Computer-room UPS (Power backup), Licensed Software, 512 Kbps Broadband Internet Connection, OHP, Teaching-Aids, Furniture, Fixtures and other equipments as per the need of the course(s). (Photographs and CDs are to be submitted along with STUDY CENTRE Registration Form separately).
  6. A well laid out Library, Sufficient to accommodate at least 10% of the enrolled candidates at a time. The Library should have adequate number of books including reference books of all courses being conducted at the STUDY CENTRE, a minimum of 100 reference books per course for a STUDY CENTRE having minimum 50-100 students.
  7. STUDY CENTRE coordinator must be a Postgraduate (Preferably M.Phil. /Ph.D.) And other Resource Faculty could be subject specialists as per UGC norms.
  8. Supporting Staff including lab assistants.
  9. UPS, Power Backup (Generator / Invertors as per load), Audio-Video facility, Parking space and canteen.
  10. Should have tie-up with Government approved Institute for conducting Seminar Classes.
